New Zealand

We are all more or less familiar with our neighbours "across the pond" and of the close friendship and camaraderie we have for each other. However, let us delve a little deeper into this remarkable country with its stunning and diverse natural beauty so that we can understand a little more about where the Kiwis are coming from.

New Zealand or Aotearoa has a population of 4.5 million and is comprised of two main land masses, the North Island or Te Ika-a-Maui and the South Island or Te Waipounamu. It was first settled by the Polynesians in the 13th century, hence its distinctive Maori culture and, due to its relative geographical isolation, it has developed an amazing diversity of animal and plant life such as the flightless kiwi bird and the majestic kauri forests.

It will be an absolute joy to get to know Aotearoa a little better and to enjoy its hospitality first hand.
